Kumble steps down as India coach, won't travel to West Indies

AMIDST all the speculation and debate, Anil Kumble has decided to step down as India's chief coach ahead of the series against the West Indies. The legendary leggie took to his official twitter handle to share the news with the fans and followers of Indian cricket.

A few days ago, CoA chief Vinod Rai extended Kumble's contract as the selection process for the new coach was underway.

Kumble's decision to step down comes on the wake up of the regular reports that suggested a rift between him and India skipper Virat Kohli. While there is still on clarity on how and why their rapport went haywire, it will be interesting to see how the BCCI responds to this.

India's five-match ODI series starts on Friday, 23rd in the West Indies and currently, only Sanjay Bangar looks in any shape of overseeing proceedings.

Looking back, Kumble has one of the best stints as the Indian coach. Remember, India didn't lose a single Test or ODI series under him.
