India need 87 runs to reclaim Border-Gavaskar Trophy

AFTER FINISHING THE THIRD DAY at 19 for no loss, India need 87-runs to win the fourth and the final Test in Dharamsala. Courtesy of Ravindra Jadeja and Wriddhiman Saha’s partnership, India scored 332-runs in the first innings to get a slender 32-run lead.

India are at 19/0 at stumps and need 87 runs to seal the series

Subsequently, the Indian pacers made full use of the second new ball to remove the Australian top-order. The Indian bowling attack wreaked havoc in the two sessions post lunch and dismissed the Aussies for 137 in the second innings. While Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bagged three wickets each, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked one wicket.

David Warner was the first batsman to depart after being caught behind on Umesh Yadav’s delivery. Steve Smith followed suit after getting bowled off Bhuvneshwar’s delivery. Matt Renshaw, who was the hosts’ third victim, too was dismissed by Umesh Yadav.

Apart from Maxwell, no other batsman appeared to stand up to the occasion as wickets kept falling at the other end. His innings too was cut short by Ashwin after the Aussie was trapped leg before in the 33rd over. Thereafter, the last three batsmen -- Steve O' Keefe, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood, returned to the pavilion without adding runs to the board. Matthew Wade remained unbeaten on 25 at the end of the innings.

Chasing a small target of 106 runs with two more days of play remaining, India played six overs and scored 19-runs without losing a wicket. Batting at 13 and six, KL Rahul and Murali Vijay will lead India’s run chase on the fourth day.
