Steve Smith

Steve Smith: (Retained)

The flamboyant batsman's IPL journey began with RCB in 2010. After not featuring in any game, Smith was acquired by Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the following edition, however, he missed the entire tournament due to an ankle injury. He then moved to Pune Warriors India in 2012, only to create his mark in the league by scoring 362-runs in 15-matches at an average of 40. He later donned the Rajasthan Royals jersey in 2014 and then moved to Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016. Last year, the 27-year-old bowed out of the tournament due to a wrist injury, after racking 270-runs at a strike rate of 153, in eight fixtures. It will be interesting to see how Smith performs in 2017, after taking over the leadership duty from MS Dhoni.

What to Expect: Will lead the team and Pune will benefit with his proactive captaincy. Furthermore, his ability to play spin bowling will make him one of the pillars in the team. He will not go hammer and tongs but will look to build an innings by playing the anchor. Also, his liveliness on the field will keep Pune's spirits high.
