LAKSHYA SEN is the new shuttler who has become the topic of discussion lately and rightly so. He has taken the Junior circuit by storm as he is currently the World No. 1.

At the recently concluded Senior National Championship he ended as runners-up after losing to Sourabh Verma in the finals.

But on his road to the finals he toppled experienced shuttler HS Prannoy in the pre-quarters and later in the semis, he trumped Harsheel Dani to set up a clash against Sourabh. Now this was about his performance in the national tournament.

2016, as said always was a phenomenal year in terms of sports. It also brought lot of accolades to the 15-year-old's name. He won Bronze at the Asian Junior Championship in Thailand. At national senior level, he won the All-India Senior Championship in September. He backed it up with India International Series which was his first International win in the senior circuit.

All of these and his current form makes him a definite prospect for the future of Indian badminton, especially in terms of men's singles.

We have many shuttlers in the men's singles category in India but when it comes to consistency then the number becomes void. The best example would be Prannoy's form. He had a tremendous run and was on a high as he won 7 straight matches he played in the Premier Badminton League for Mumbai Rockets. Everyone were hoping for that to be a boost for the shuttler to begin his international tour with the same kind of consistency.

But the scenes changed and it was not too far away that he fell short and lost out in the early rounds in both the tournaments he played so far which includes his defeat against the young lad from Almora, Uttarakhand at the national level.

The scenes are changing slowly with steady performances from the younger crop of players. Lakshya, the best prospect for that. In the making of Lakshya, the main ingredient that is the mixture of two great minds like Vimal Kumar and Prakash Padukone has been doing everything right for the youngster and it's doing wonders.

If one takes note, the recent lot of shuttlers like Sameer and his brother Sourabh have been making a mark in the sport in their own ways making the future look bright.

Now if only the players put in the same effort throughout their career, they then look unstoppable to concurring what they want to achieve.

With Lakshya's current form, just be ready for more surprises on your way and definitely keep an eye on this youngster who will be 16 soon in August this year.
