SWEET REVENGE: PV Sindhu trumps Marin to enter the SF of Dubai SSF

IT WAS A RE-MATCH of the Rio 2016 final at the Dubai Superseries Final, a dream match that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. While, everybody was expecting another nail-biter between the two, Sindhu convincingly beat the Spaniard 21-17, 21-13 to enter the semi-final.

While, Marin was never in contention of progressing into the knockouts, the Indian has booked her place in the semis.

As coach Gopichand kept her motivating Sindhu from the sidelines, the Hyderabad girl stuck to the task of dismissing her opponent.

Initially it appeared that Marin might take the first game but Sindhu with a tenacious performance dominated the Olympic Gold medallist.

Going into the second game, Sindhu held the edge but Marin was pushing the Indian to her limits. Despite the fightback from the Spaniard, the Indian held her nerve and avenged her Rio loss.

Sindhu along with Sun Yu from Group B have qualified to the knockout stages.
