WATCH: Stephen Fleming adds Kiwi flavour to Indian kabaddi, performs Haka with players

THE 2016 KABADDI WORLD CUP kicked off in Ahmedabad on October 7. India, being the hosts and the winners of the previous two World Cups- 2004, 2007, remain favourites to win the tournament despite starting the WC campaign with a defeat to South Korea. Anup Kumar, who is captain as well as one of the most experienced players in the line-up, has an instrumental role to play in India’s chances of achieving the WC treble.

Meanwhile, having retired from international duties, former India kabaddi player Rakesh Kumar seems to be making most of his time away from the World Cup. Kumar, who was vice-captain of the team that won 2007 WC, spent some time with former New Zealand cricket captain Stephen Fleming and shared some tips on how to play the sport.

Fleming, who is in India since the start of New Zealand tour of India, tried his hand at kabaddi in a match against Kumar’s men. The former Kiwi cricketer also performed a rugby tradition with the players, before the start of the game. It was a unique moment on the Kabaddi field as Fleming got the players around him to do Haka.
