Fanai Lalrempuia

This 20 year old Mizo central midfielder has much in common with Salam Ranjan Singh. They are both of the same age, both were part of Pune FC's academy setup, and fought their way into the first team together.

Fanai has had a little more time in the top tier circuit, though. His debut for Pune FC came in 20th April 2013, and by 2013-14 he was already making regular appearances for the Red Lizards. In the last season that Pune FC participated in the I-League, Fanai even scored against Dempo and Bharat FC.

But things haven't been too great for him since Pune FC folded. He was signed by Pune City and made his ISL debut last year, making about 3 appearances in ISL 2015. But after that the franchise could not find an I-League club to loan him out to, which resulted in him getting no game time for the rest of the season.

As a promising young player, ISL 2016 is going to be crucial for Fanai. He is playing at a new franchise but he still doesn't have a club; and a player of his age needs to play matches all seaosn. So whatever chance he gets, he has to catch the eyes of potential I-League clubs who might take him on a loan. Things will be different next year when the leagues merge but for now he needs to fight hard to salvage this season for himself.
