Confident that I can do better than I have done; will return to action in December: Saina

SAINA NEHWAL fans have every reason to be elated right now as the Indian star shuttler is eyeing a comeback in December this year. After revealing the plan to return to competitive action, Saina made it clear that although December is the target, her comeback will only happen after she makes a full recovery and regains match fitness.

She underwent a knee surgery last month after an injury caused her to get knocked out of Rio Olympics following the group stage. She was advised to take good rest.

"I want to come back stronger. I am confident that in the next two-three years I can do better than what I have done in the last five-six years. I have to do better," Saina said to PTI.

She further added,

"If everything goes right, I am keen to take part in Dubai World Superseries Finals during that month. I want to come back into competitive action only after I become 100 per cent fit."

She will not be seen in the Japan, Denmark and French Superseries which may affect her rankings. At present, she is ranked World No. 9.

Talking about not being able to deliver in Olympics as expected, the Hyderabadi shuttler said,

"Maybe God wished like this, maybe I will become stronger."
