Kashyap back in action with a win; young shuttlers out of Indonesia GPG

PARUPALLI KASHYAP has returned to action at the Indonesia Grand Prix Gold after spending the last few months recovering from an injury. He began his campaign on a winning note, defeating Nathaniel Ernestan 21-6, 21-8. With that easy win, Kashyap is now set to face his compatriot, Ajay Jayram in the next round. Ajay is the top seed amongst Indian stuttlers.

Ajay too enjoyed an easy victory over Yehezkiel Fritz Mainaky 21-8, 21-9.

The other shuttlers in the men's singles category- 7th seed HS Prannoy and 10th seed Sai Praneeth, too won their respective first round matches. Prannoy played like a fighter as he lost the first game and then made a come back to win the following two games. He will be playing Joo Ven Soong in the next round. Prannoy is known to have beaten the Malaysian in their only previous meeting. 

Praneeth too had to fight hard in thrilling three game match against Riyanto Subagja 21-18, 13-21, 21-13. He is set to play Kantaphon Wangcharoen in his next round.

While youngsters Kaushal Dharmamer and Harsheel Dani were ousted by Reksy Aureza Megananda 21-23, 21-14, 21-13 and Simon Santoso 21-18, 21-16.

It was curtains for the women's singles shuttlers Ruthvika Shivani, Tanvi Lad and PC Thulasi. Ruthvika lost to Hana Ramadhini 14-21, 14-21; Tanvi was defeated by Ruselli Hartawan 14-21, 19-21; Thulasi was ousted by fourth seed Xiaoyu Liang 12-21, 15-21.

It was also end of the road for men's doubles pair of Nandagopal/Sanyam Shukla as they went down against 7th seeds Hendra Gunawan/Markis Kido 10-21, 14-21.
