Sindhu hits back at Telangana Deputy CM Ali’s claims; says Gopi sir is the best coach

FROM THE TIME PV Sindhu stepped onto the podium to capture the Silver Medal at the recently concluded Rio Olympics, the 21-year-old has managed to capture the attention and imagination of Indian badminton fans.

In fact, ever since she landed on the home soil a few days back, well-wishers, sponsors and fans have greeted her with rich praises and blessings. For her incredible success in Brazil, Sindhu has also been on the receiving end of many rewards and awards from several institutions and people.

However, during Sindhu’s felicitation ceremony at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana Deputy CM Mahmood Ali’s remarked, Sindhu needed a ‘better coach’.

While many fans were surprised and angered by such comments, ace badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, who has been the driving force behind Sindhu’s success told ANI,

“Maybe he (Ali) said it unknowingly, but I would rather focus on the positive things being said.”

The lanky shuttler too put such frivolous claims to rest and explained,

“For me, Gopi sir is the best coach, don’t want to say anything else. Carolina Marin played really well, it was her day.”
