Sindhu belongs to India; she has the potential to do better in Tokyo 2020: Gopichand

THE ANDHRA PRADESH and Telangana government have been competing with each other in laying a claim on Olympic silver medalist shuttler PV Sindhu. Her coach Pullela Gopichand has an answer for that. Overwhelmed with the reception they received, he said that she belongs to India.

Sindhu's victory was celebrated by the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today. The shuttler and her coach were received at the airport by the her parents and Telangana deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali.

Gopichand also stressed that she has the potential to do better in Tokyo in 2020.

"Sindhu has fantastic genes. She has been consistent with her performance and I had the faith that she would do well when it would be needed. We have not seen the glimpses of what she is capable of yet. She has great potential," said Gopichand.

While, Sindhu attributed her success to her coach.

"Coach supported and motivated me. Parents have sacrificed a lot for me and I am proud to be here," said Sindhu.
