OLYMPICS FINAL: Sindhu becomes first Indian shuttler to play in the finale
PV SINDHU has done it! A proud moment for all Indian badminton fans as the 21-year-old shuttler storms into the finals of Rio Olympics beating Nozomi Okuhara in straight games 21-19, 21-10.
The pace at which Sindhu was seen in her first ever Olympics, nobody could stop her and she is just one match away from the precious Olympic gold.
Defeating second seed Wang Yihan in the quarters, her confidence level was boosted and she then outclassed Okuhara in the semi-finals today. Aggression, loud roars and strong smashes leading all the way to the finals.
She bettered Saina Nehwal's record of an Olympic bronze as now a silver is for sure. Sindhu will face No. 1 seed Carolina Marin of Spain in the finals. The head-to-head count favours the Spanish but on that given day, Sindhu can pulll a surprise and this Olympics is a proof of it.
