Just not enough: Jwala/Ashwini on the cliff after losing their second match in Rio

WOMEN'S DOUBLES PAIR OF Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa were looking for their first win in their Olympics campaign but the Dutch pair had other ideas. Selena Piek/Eefje Muskens won the thrilling three-game match 21-16, 16-21, 21-17. They have now won both their group stage matches.

A lot of improvement was seen from the Indian pair but the result didn't go in favour of them. Jwala was good with her shots as compared to the first match and Ashwini, like always, came up with her best smashes

But it wasn't enough for them to get a win or perhaps it was too late for them to give their best performance. Jwala/Ashwini came close in the first game but the Dutch were just too good for them.

A good start to the second game saw the Indian duo claim it 21-16 pushing the match to a decider.

In the third game, the Dutch were back at doing what they do best, dominate.

After two consecutive defeats, their hopes of qualifying beyond group stages look very minimal. They play their final match against Thai duo Puttita Supajirakul/Sapsiree Taerattanachai tomorrow.
