Saina Nehwal begins her campaign at the Olympics with a straight game victory

EVERYBODY WANTED TO see Saina Nehwal in action and finally her chance came. In her third appearance at the Olympics she trumped the local girl Lohaynny Vicente 21-17, 21-17 in her first Group G match.

They were playing each other for the first time and considering the 5th seed being the experienced one, victory was expected. But Lohaynny put up a fight and tested Saina. With the support from the local crowd, Lohaynny was thrilled to perform.

At one stage, it felt like this match will go on for three sets because Lohaynny had the potential to win the second game. But Saina, the fighter that she is, she found her rhythm back and had a good control over the game and eventually won the match.

Saina will next play Marija Ulitina of Ukraine on 14th August.
