Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy go down fighting against second seeds in their opening match

MEN'S DOUBLES PAIR Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy lost the opening match in their first ever Olympic appearance against second seeds from Indonesia Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan in the Group D match.

The pressure was completely on the Indian duo but they didn't let it affect them. They put up a great fight pushing the Indonesians to the brink. A good start led to great momentum but Attri/Reddy failed to carry it forward. It was too close but yet too far as they lost the first game 18-21.

Ahsan/Setiawan showing their experience completely dominated the second game. Both teams displayed great character on the court which was a treat to watch for the fans.

Attri/Reddy fought till the end but couldn't sustain for long as they lost the second game 13-21 and succumbed to defeat at the hands of the second seeds.  

The Indians will play their second match against the Chinese pair of Chai Biao/Hong Wei tomorrow.
