Ajay Jayaram reaches career best ranking of 19

INDIAN MEN'S SINGLES SHUTTLER Ajay Jayaram is now World No. 19 according to the newly released BWF rankings. It is a milestone for him as it is his career best ranking. His previous best was rank 20 in March this year.

He missed out on two tournaments and took a break to focus on training. He then returned to action for two consecutive tournaments, the Canada Open and US Open. At both these events, he reached semis but failed to progress ahead. The performance he displayed at both the tournaments was commendable owing to which he has climbed up the ladder.

HS Prannoy too moves up one place to 28 while Kidambi Srikanth's ranking remains unchanged at 11.

Meanwhile, Olympic-bound women's shuttlers Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa further slip to rank 22. They haven't been up to the mark this year but the only way they can shut their critics is by giving their best in Rio.

On the other hand, rankings of women's singles shuttlers Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu remain the same at No. 5 and 10 respectively. Rankings of Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy too remain unchanged at 21.
