Siril Verma out of the QF; end of the road for Indian shuttlers at Vietnam GP

THE TOP SHUTTLERS are taking a break from action, some nursing their injuries, the others preparing for Olympics. But our young guns are in action at the ongoing Vietnam Grand Prix.

Men's singles shuttler Siril Verma was the lone face who qualified to the quarter-finals and unfortunately lost to 14th seed Lin Yu Hsien in hard-fought three games match 21-4, 15-21, 21-19.

There were many participants in the men's singles category but most of them suffered first round defeat. Harshit Aggarwal, Rahul Yadav and Kaushal Dharmamer were out of the tournament after round one. Shreyansh Jaiswal was defeated by Siril Verma in round two. Aditya Joshi defeated 15th seed Harsheel Dani in round two and went had to exit after the pre-quarter defeat. Pratul Joshi and Abhishek Yelegar were out after losing their round two matches.

Women's singles shuttlers Saili Rane and PC Thulasi were out after round one while Rituparana Das suffered defeat in round two.

The men's doubles duo of Venkatesh Prasad/Jagadish Yadav  and K Nandagopal/Sanyam Shukla were out after losing their round one matches.
