Indian men's team thrashed out of the Thomas Cup after losing to Indonesia

THE INDIAN MEN'S BADMINTON TEAM continued their dismal run in the last group stage match against Indonesia. The 13 time Thomas Cup champions thrashed India 5-0 to top their Group 'B' and enter the knockout stage.

In the earlier matches, there was a positive sign as singles shuttlers Sai Praneeth and Sourabh Varma emerged victorious but in this tie even they faltered and failed to continue their momentum.

The senior most shuttler in the team, Aja Jayaram failed once again to lead from upfront losing his opening match Christie Jonatan 14-21, 12-21. Praneeth lost a hard fought match to Gingting Anthony 21-18, 11-21, 15-21; Sourabh too had a tough fight against Maulana Mustofa 10-21, 22-20, 13-21.

Manu Attri was seen alongside Akshay Dewalkar in the doubles match and they lost to Angga Pratama/Ricky Suwardi 18-21, 17-21. While Sumeeth Reddy paired up with Satwiksairaj lost to Markus Fernaldi/Hendra Setiawan 9-21, 18-21.

With this team India exit the Thomas Cup after losing all the three matches in the group stage.
