Bellator MMA has signed up UFC Heavyweight Matt Mitrione by offering a six-figure guaranteed per fight deal. Mitrione, who had an offer from UFC as well, chose Bellator instead. Mitrione's deal is currently a four-fight one and apart from this, he will also serve as a colour commentator for Bellator Kickboxing which will air on Spike.
Mitrione is the second major UFC fighter that Bellator is signing after they earlier secured a deal with Ben Henderson. Bellator is also expected to extend their deal with Quinton Jackson who is currently in talks about a settlement.
There is more bad news for UFC as their Welterweight title challenger Rory MacDonald said that he is expected to be a free agent by the time of June. MacDonald is scheduled to face Stephen Thompson and the fight will go ahead as planned.
Rory said that he will be fighting for the promotion that pays him the most money and also confirmed that he missed out a year due to negotiations with UFC.
Rory is one of the high profile names in the Welterweight category with 18 wins to his name from 21 fights. His fight will take place on June 18, 2016 at UFC Fight Night.
