After smashing the records with UFC 196, Dana White is looking to cash in big time with UFC 200. Apparently, UFC is planning to have the Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rematch in the card. There were earlier rumors about Conor facing Frankie Edgar in the Featherweight division but this latest development suggests that Conor will stay in the Welterweight division to settle the score with Nate.
Conor and Nate faced off at UFC 196 and the latter had won the fight in the second round with a rear naked choke. The event was the third highest gate in UFC’s history and went over a million pay-per-view buys.
Interestingly, the fight was put together on an 11 day notice after Conor’s original opponent, Rafael Dos Anjos pulled out due to an injury. A rematch between Conor and Nate would certainly boost the expectations for UFC 200 which is exactly what Dana White wants.
Apart from this, there are also talks about a potential championship bout between new champion Miesha Tate and the returning Ronda Rousey.
In the Heavyweight division, UFC is trying to confirm Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne. The debut of CM Punk is another exciting prospect that could raise the bar of UFC 200.
