It's always good when there's competition in team, I will wait for the opportunity: Rahane

ALTHOUGH INDIAN BATSMAN Ajinkya Rahane has been one of the most consistent scorers across all formats, his place in the playing 11 for the T20 format has always been uncertain. And, after the impressive run of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan at the top, it’s become difficult for the elegant batsman to crack into the Indian playing 11.

However, Rahane has no qualms in being out of the side and says that competition is good for the team.

As reported by PTI Rahane said,

"It's always good when there's competition in team. I'm very happy that everyone is doing well. I will wait for the opportunity. Right now I feel the combination is doing well. It is a big sign for the team. I never think of myself."

The Mumbai batsman also realizes that with such healthy competition for places in the Indian team, one has to wait for his chances patiently. And the 27-year-old is ready to practice with dedication and be ready when the chance arises.

"It will only get difficult when you don't prepare. If you practice sincerely and purposefully, I know when I get a chance my mind will be ready. My focus is to work hard and prepare well.

Rahane's game is more suited for the longer version of the game, and if he has to play in the XI in limited overs, he needs to bat in the top three where he can make use of the first powerplay. If he bats any lower, then his game is not as effective as he doesn't possess the big shots.

Rahane's is more regular in ODIs than in T20Is and last played against Pakistan in the recently-concluded Asia Cup.
