"Odafa important but I dont believe in one man show" says Sporting Coach Costa

MATEUS COSTA, coach of Sporting de Club Goa (SCG) is a confident man after defeating the men in yellow and blue at home but also cautious at the same time. The reason for being cautious is that the Mumbai FC team have a good form at home with the support of their fans.

“With due respect and credit to the team, they have done well this season. We did win against them but as you know every match is a new game. We are looking for a victory which will also help make a difference for us in the points table. The point difference between the team is not a huge margin so every game is important, so we have to put our best foot forward tomorrow.”

The absence of mid-fielder Densil Theobald will be felt for the Goa team,

“He is not travelling with us and we will really miss him on the field tomorrow.”

Odafa Okolie scored a brace in the match against Mumbai in Goa but was seen limping throughout the game, talking about this, Costa said,

“He had an injury long back when he was playing with Mohun Bagan, it still hurts him but it’s not a serious injury. In fact it’s not an injury just a new style of playing (laughs).”

When asked if Odafa is considered as a key player in tomorrow’s match, the coach replied,

“Yes it is true but I don’t believe in a one man show, all the players need to contribute to win a match so all the players of the team are very much important like Odafa."

Talking about the strategies for the match as few of the players were missing in the Goa leg Costa said,

“Every team has their own strategies and as I mentioned earlier it’s a new game so yes we do have plans for the players who were not playing last time and we will try our best to stop them.”

Defender Loveday Enyinnaya who accompanied Costa, echoed his words,

“It’s a very tight season, the league is shortened so everybody has to work hard and contribute for the team’s victory that is the most important strategy.”
