Anand Pawar retires hurt in the quarter-finals at the Welsh International

SECOND SEED ANAND PAWAR had to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury in the quarter-final match against sixth seed Adrian Dziolko from Poland at the Yonex Welsh International in Cardiff, Wales.

He lost the first set 11-21 but during the second set he was injured but then he was leading and completed the set which ended in his favour 21-7. The figures tell the story as to how dominant the Indian shuttler was. But then he could not carry on with the pain and eventually decided to retire hurt.

The luck favoured the Poland shuttler as he qualified ahead in the tournament and ended as runners-up losing against the top seed in the finals.
