Ravichandran Ashwin stands by teammates, praises effort to reach WTC final
RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN HAS stood with his colleagues in the Indian cricket team amidst the storm of criticism they're facing after losing the ICC World Test Championship 2023 final.
The ace spinner, who recently turned out for the Rajastan Royals team in the IPL, was not picked to be in the squad for the test in Oval. This decision did raise some eyebrows, but Ashwin has never spoken negatively about the selectors' decision.
Now, when his national teammates are facing a hard time from the fans and the media, he has come out and praised the effort by the players put in over the last 2 years to qualify for the second WTC final in a row.
Congratulations Australia on winning this #WTCFinal and closing out this cycle of test cricket. It is disappointing to end up on the wrong side of things, nevertheless it was a great effort over the last 2 years or so to get here in the first place.

India's next outing will be at the two-test bilateral series against West Indies which kicks off on 12th July. It remains to be seen if Ashwin will make it back into the squad for that.
