PNB beat Indian Oil to claim Beighton Cup

PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK (PNB) on Sunday beat Indian Oil Corporation 5-3 in penalties to win the Beighton Cup hockey tournament at the Sports Authority of India ground in Kolkata.

At the end of regulation time, both teams were locked at 1-1. Satpal Gulia had put PNB infront in the 30th minute via a penalty corner and three minutes after the half-time, Deepak Thakur equalised through a field goal.

In the penalty shoot-out, Arjun Antil scored twice, Hardeep Singh and Naveen Antil also netted once each while Shivdeep Singh missed his chance for PNB. 

For Indian Oil, Gagandeep Singh and Vikram Kanth scored one penalty each. Roshan Minz and Imran Khan missed their opportunities.

The best player award was given to PNB goalkeeper Jasbir Singh and the Fairplay Trophy was handed to Army XI.
