Hockey India working to relaunch men's league and start a women's league

HOCKEY INDIA is working on relaunching the men's league and starting a women's league.

The Hockey India League (HIL), which was in existence since 2013 and suspended six years ago, is likely to be restarted after the Paris Olympics 2024, Dilip Tirkey, president, Hockey India, told newswire PTI during an interaction.

He said HI have asked the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for a appropriate slot to restart the league, either in December 2024 or early 2015. Earlier, the HIL was conducted during the months of January and February till 2017.

While six teams competed ealrier, the new version is likely to have eight men's teams and four women's teams, Tirkey said during the interaction.
