India Open 2018: Sindhu enters finals, will face Beiwen Zhang

PV SINDHU enters the finals of India Open, making her the only Indian shuttler to do so this year. The top seed defeated third seed Thai shuttler Intanon in straight games 21-13, 21-15.

Intanon had a good start with the first three points to her name but when the score read 3-2 to her favour, Sindhu came back strong to win a series of 11 points to make it 13-3 and that made it difficult for the Thai to get back as the Indian won 21-13.

Domination from Sindhu continued in the second game too, helping her clinch the match in just 49 minutes and making it to the finals. She will face fifth seed Beiwen Zhang in the finals tomorrow (4th February).

Meanwhile, mixed doubles duo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Sikki Reddy ended their campaign in the semi-finals at the India Open in Delhi today (3rd February).

The 8th seeds Indian pair lost to 5th seeds Danish duo of Mathias Christiansen/Christinna Pedersen 16-21, 19-21. Though the Indian duo put up a great fight especially in the second game it wasn't enough to challenge their opponents to take them further.
