Holicharan Nazary
21 year old Holicharan Narzary's years of hard work was recently rewarded when he got his national team debut in a friendly against Nepal. The striker from Assam first entered the nationl football scene after playing in various school tournaments, when a tryout at SAI landed him in the India U-16 training camp. He was chosen by AIFF to be a part of the Pailan Arrows developmental team for whom he played 3 seasons in the I-League before being signed up by Dempo. His loan spell at FC Goa during the inaugural ISL wasn't much to speak of; he made 3 appearances. But his performance for Dempo in I-League 2014-15 caught the selectors' eyes even though he did not score a single goal that season. Drafted by NEUFC to play for them in this ISL, Narzary stands a good chance at turning things around for himself on a big platform. But it remains to be seen how much of a preference the young forward is given ahead of the likes of Diomansy Kamara, Nicolas Velez, and Francs Dadzie.
