Japan SS: Pranaav/Sikki in RD 2; Satwik/Chirag & Ashwini enter main RD

MIXED DOUBLES duo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Sikki Reddy had to fight a tough battle against Japanese pair Tomoya Takashina/Rie Etoh 21-19, 17-21, 21-15 at the Japan Super Series.

It was a closely contested match throughout, though the Indian pair won the opening game, second game defeat put them under pressure. But in the final game, Pranaav/Sikki came out with flying colours sealing a spot in second round.

On the other hand, Satwiksai Raj/Ashwini Ponnappa earned a spot in the main round after winning their qualifiers. They will now take on Tinn Isriyanet/Pacharapun in the first round.

It was also a positive outing for Satwik and his men's doubles partner Chirag Shetty as they too entered the main round after winning their respective qualifying matches.

Meanwhile, men's singles shuttler Parupalli Kashyap lost his second qualifier match and therefore ended his campaign.
