Russia GP: Results of Indian shuttlers after day 1

FOLLOWING are the results of Indian shuttlers after day 1 at the Russia Grand Prix. The scoring system for this tournament is best of 5 with 11 points each game.

In the men's singles category, the first and second round was played on the same day. Though many Indian shuttlers had good outing in the opening round most of them missed out on going ahead in the tournament.

There are three Indian shuttlers who have sealed their place in pre-quarters and among them Rahul Yadav and 4th seed Subhankar Dey will play against each other. While recently turned 31-year-old 8th seed Anand Pawar will take on Lim Chi Wing.

Four women's singles shuttlers have booked a place in pre-quarters. Anura Prabhudesai will take on top seed Sonilia Cheah; Vrushali Gummadi defeated 8th seed Ksenia Evgenova to face Daria Radchenko next; 6th seed Rasika Raje will face Minami Kawashima while Shikha Gautam plays 4th seed Natsuki Nidaira.

Only one pair in the mixed doubles category, Saurabh Sharma/Anoushka Parikh will play Aleksandr Vasilkin/Anastasia Redkina.
