Ajay Jayaram reaches his career best ranking of No. 14

GOOD NEWS for men's singles shuttler Ajay Jayaram who has reached his career best ranking of 14 according to the newly released Badminton Word Federation (BWF).

His last best ranking was No. 18 in January this year. His recent best performance after a long time came at the Malaysia SSP where he had a great run till the quarters till Son Wan Ho could oust him. In the pre-quarters he had defeated higher ranked shuttler Viktor Axelsen.

Unfortunately he couldn't continue the same momentum at the Singapore SS as he was defeated in the first round. But his good run has given him something to cheer. His ranking and performance shows that he's still got the best in him and it is yet to come. His focus now would be on the China GPG and Badminton Asia Championship.

On the other hand, PV Sindhu who reached her best, No. 2 last week has dropped three points to be No. 5 currently. Her compatriot Saina Nehwal remains at No. 9 respectively.

Sai Praneeth is ranked No. 30 while HS Prannoy, Sameer Verma and Kidambi Srikanth slips to 27, 28 and 29 respectively.

In the women's doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy climb up 3 spots to No. 38 while Sanjana Santosh/Sara Sunil is 35th. Mixed doubles duo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Sikki Reddy remain at No. 14.
