MI, RCB and RPS likely to play exhibition matches in USA

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE'S most coveted teams in Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants may soon be seen playing against each other in exhibition matches to be held on American soil.

In an attempt to attract more eyeballs towards the cash-rich tournament, the BCCI is mulling over to organise a few exhibition T20 matches in the USA.

As reported by ndtv, three franchises in MI, RCB AND RPS have expressed their desire to play some exhibition matches. A senior BCCI official said,

"The matter is expected to be discussed at the IPL Governing Council in Bengaluru before the start of the final match on Sunday. The venue is tentatively Houston. However the dates need to be chalked out. Earlier, it was being discussed it would happen in the window available between India's tour of Zimbabwe and West Indies. But it could now be held in September also. All three teams are expected to play against each other. Obviously, major attractions will be Kohli and Dhoni."

Earlier last year, 'Cricket All Stars' series was held in three cities across USA, where former cricket legends featured for teams- 'Sachin's Blasters' and 'Warne's Warriors'. The tournament earned great popularity on American soil.

Knowing that T20 is a potent tool for marketing the game in US, the BCCI will look to grab the opportunity at the earliest.
