Lendl Simmons: (Retained)

The Trinidadian batsman was acquired by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2014 IPL auction. Batting at the top of the order, he struck 394-runs in 13-games in his maiden season. Th3 32-year-old had a consistent run in 2015 season, registering six half centuries in 13 games. However, in 2016, Simmons suffered an injury to his back, only to be replaced with New Zealand Martin Guptill. The attractive opener played his last T20 in America, during the two-match T20 series between India and West Indies. Simmons had scored 0 and 19 in the two games.

What to expect: He has provided brisk starts for MI in the past and the same will be expected from this T & T opener. However, it will be interesting to see if he gets the go ahead in the initial stages. That said, MI don't have an attacking opener and he could perfectly fit into that role. If he can find his top gear, he can certainly add value at the top.
