We got depth in both batting & bowling to overcome formidable teams, says SRH mentor Laxman

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD are placed at the fourth position on the league table after having a great week, marking a hat-trick of wins. The team looks to be in a great space and mentor VVS Laxman was thrilled to talk about the preparations in the pre-match interview, as reported by cricbuzz.

The former Indian middle order batsman believes his side has a strong depth in their line-up, to help overcome formidable teams.

"We have got enough depth in our batting order. All of them are practicing hard. Everyone is preparing well to make use of the opportunities whenever it arises. In the last two years we were top heavy and we didn't have enough firepower in the middle-order. Whereas if you see now, we have players like Ojha, Moises, Deepak, Morgan. So I think we have got enough depth in our batting, plus we have got bowlers like Bipul, Karn, Bhuvneshwar who can also bat. So I think we are very pleased. We are very fortunate to have a very flexible and formidable batting line-up."

Laxman said that he was also pleased with the performance of the bowling attack and hoped to see them continue with their good work.

"Because we've got a good bowling attack, we look to restrict the opposition and then back our batsmen to go out and get that score. We are very pleased with the way our bowlers have performed. Especially if you see the last two games, against formidable batting line-ups, I think the bowlers did really well. Not to single out anyone, as a bowling group I thought, to keep both teams below 150 was exceptional, on good batting wickets. So that's something that we want to continue."

Ahead of the match against Rising Pune Supergiants, the 41-year-old maintained said that rather than analysing the opponent’s weakness, his side will instead focus more on their strategies.

"I believe that if we concentrate on our plans and try to execute our plans, then we can do well against any opposition. I think it's more about concentrating and playing to our strengths, while strategizing for each and every opposition batsman or bowler."
