Successful execution of bowling plan was the key to our win, says Bhuvneshwar Kumar

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD marked an emphatic victory over the Gujarat Lions in their fourth match of the IPL yesterday.

The Lions who were unbeaten, winning their first three games faltered against SRH’s disciplined bowling attack and could only score a modest total of 138 in 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was awarded the man of the match for his striking figures of 4 for 29, taking important wickets of opener Aaron Finch and skipper Suresh Raina.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer said the successful execution of bowling plan was the key in their two wins thus far.. As reported by PTI, Kumar said,

“We have a strong bowling attack and it was our plan to bowl first and restrict the opposition to around 150 so that it would be an easy chase for our batsmen. We did the plan against Mumbai Indians and did the same here and both the time our plan worked and we won the match while chasing."

Reflecting upon the strategy, the 26-year-old said,

"We bowled to our plan by using slow cutters and wanted the batsmen to use their power and our plan worked. Most of the Gujarat Lions batsmen got out while playing a big shots.”

The right-arm bowler also expressed his delight on getting the early crucial wicket of in-form aggressive Gujarat Lions opener Aaron Finch said,

“Finch had won three matches on trot for his side and it was necessary for us to get him out quickly, and I'm happy that we could do so by sending him back in first over.”

He further added,

“They have a strong batting line up and if they don't lose wickets in first ten overs, their batsmen can be dangerous for the opposition, but we managed to take wickets at regular intervals and not allow them to score big runs."
