England T20 captain Eoin Morgan credits IPL for improvement in his game

ENGLAND'S ODI AND T20I captain Eoin Morgan credits the IPL for the improvement in his game. Ever since he appeared in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders initially, Morgan's limited overs game has improved with a wide array of strokes and a better strike-rate.

As reported by TNN, Morgan said,

"The IPL has helped my game in a huge way. The first 2-3 years I came to the IPL, I saw my game improve immensely. Rubbing shoulders with the best players in the field, you gain huge amount of confidence training alongside them, playing with them and seeking advice from them."

The IPL gives you the chance to compete with the best and raise your game to international standards, which Morgan did. He took over the ODI captaincy from Alastair Cook just before the 2015 World cup, but had a poor show as they failed to qualify for the quarter-final stages. However, the last 12 months have been a different story altogether .

"Relaxed team atmosphere and an aggressive brand of cricket over the last 12 months have been the chief contributing factor of our success."

Morgan is one of the several southpaws in the Sunrisers' squad, but refuses to believe that the team's USP is limited to that

"I wouldn't say so. One thing that's going for us in this competition is that we have strong squad and we have good team culture. I guess that's what the talking point of our side is."

The former Ireland-player who shifted his international base to England in 2009, is known for his audacious strokeplay and has been the finisher that they have been looking for in limited overs for a long time now.
