Skipping can help Dhawan solve his footwork issues, says Gavaskar

LITTLE MASTER Sunil Gavaskar on Tuesday reckoned slow footwork to be the cause of sticky patch in Shikhar Dhawan's form. Dhawan, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad has managed to score just 17 runs from three matches so far in the tournament.

Gavaskar believes a bit of skipping could solve the left-hander’s issues. As reported by PTI he said,

"What I saw in the IPL, I found his feet are moving a bit slow. I would suggest he does a fair bit of skipping and it would certainly help.”

When asked if there is pressure on Dhawan to perform, the stalwart cut some slack for the under-fire opening batsman. Gavaskar told NDTV,

"He is constantly under pressure to perform. The problem is when Dhawan fails, he fails in 4-5 matches and people forget the runs that he has scored. He has 9 centuries and around 17 scores of over 50 in limited overs cricket.”

Meanwhile, the 66-year-old veteran praised Kolkata’s aggressive opener Gautam Gambhir, who currently holds the orange cap for scoring 226 runs from 4 matches.
