Gayle faces possible lifetime Big Bash ban after inappropriate comments

WEST INDIAN STAR CHRIS GAYLE is on the verge of facing a lifetime ban from playing all the future games in the Australian Big Bash T20 after his controversial comments a few days back with reporter Mel McLaughlin.

Gayle did escape a match suspension earlier but was slapped with a $10,000 fine. That said, Gayle has further been accused of creepy behaviour from several lady reporters over the past few days and that has certainly put the Jamaican in a spot of bother.

Although Gayle apologized for his cheeky comments and McLaughlin too decided to move on, it is learnt that Cricket Australia (CA) is not willing to invite him back next year. Gayle's team Melbourne Renegades too are contemplating about cutting their ties with the West Indian.

Veteran sports journalist Robert Craddock reported on Inside Cricket by saying,

“There’s a feeling that he will be banned. He will not return next year,” Craddock said. “Cricket Australia will not sanction it and they will take a very strong stance on it, for two reasons: One, because they don’t like his behaviour. And two, because there’s also a feeling that the competition is outgrowing some of its international stars. That it can stand on its own two feet.

“Some may consider that extreme punishment for one singular offence. But the story is growing, even today there was a story on the front page alleging that Chris Gayle exposed himself to a woman during last year’s World Cup. Not good enough. Terrible behaviour.”
