Indian shuttlers pass first hurdle at Indonesia Masters GPG

IT WAS GOOD OUTING FOR THE INDIAN SHUTTLERS as they qualified for the second round of Indonesia Masters Grand Prix Gold in Malang, Indonesia on Wednesday.

Top seed PV Sindhu had a nerve wracking first round which ended in her favour as she won 21-16, 19-21, 21-12 against Gregoria Mariska of Indonesia.

Mariska really tested the Indian shuttler's patience and stretched the game to the decider, which was an easy win for the 20-year-old. The first round was tricky for Sindhu, who should now expect a tough competition in the coming matches. She faces Wulan Cahya Utami Sukoputri of Indonesia next, whom she meets for the first time.

In the men's singles category, top seed Kidambi Srikanth has bounced back from his dismal run beating Wobowo Setyaldi Putra of Indonesia 21-6, 21-12. He will next face Saputra Vicky Angga from Indonesia.

Third seed HS Prannoy too had an easy outing beating Panji Ahmad Maulana of Indonesia 21-16, 21-16. His next opponent is Shi Yuqi of China in round two.

Out of all these, the easiest and the quickest victory was for eighth seed RMV Gurusaidutt who beat second seed Muhammad Ahdial Octa Khairulloh 21-10, 21-3. He next faces either Kean Yew Loh or Shesar Hiren Rhustavito of Indonesia.
