The Doubles get their due finally

THE SPORTS MINISTRY have shown a green light to hire a specialist coach for the doubles team in badminton. An issue that was constantly raised by the women's doubles player Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa, this news should bring a smile on their faces. Though it took a long time it is finally been done (good things usually take time).

Tan Kim Her of Malaysia, has been the one appointed for the job and is expected to complete the formalities in a day or two. He has been offered a monthly remuneration of $7500 (Rs. 4.7 lakh), it will not be attached with national coach P. Gopichand and will be training pairs in a different facility provided by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).

The doubles did not have a coach since the departure of Indonesian Edwin Iriawan in 2013.
