HOME HEROES: Amidst the superstars, these local stars add punch to their IPTL teams



EVER SINCE THE launch of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), the tournament has been seen by the media and the public as an international or Indian league. However, the director of this cash-rich tournament, Mahesh Bhupathi has reiterated the fact that, the league might feature the world’s best players across the globe, but in the context of property, it's an Asian league. 

Although players from all continents will be a part of this extravaganza, the owners and franchises are from Asia, owing to which we have teams from Japan, Indian, UAE, Singapore and Philippines. Moreover, Indian and Japanese stars will further bring in the much-needed local adavantage into this league. 

The Indian Aces would be represented in the league by two of the greatest exponents in the doubles and mixed doubles Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna. Meanwhile, their compatriot and doubles legend Leander Paes will play for the Japan Warriors. 

One of the leading singles players on the ATP tour, Kei Nishikori too, will feature for his home franchise. His compatriot and upcoming Kurumi Nara will also try to make her presence felt for team Japan. The Filipino team too will have treat Huey featuring in their team.
