PV Sindhu storms into Macau Open semis

TWO-TIME DEFENDING CHAMPION PV Sindhu on Friday sealed a place in the semi-final at the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold in Macau, beating Chen Yufei of China 21-13, 18-21, 21-14 in 54 minutes.

This was their first encounter and it was in the Indian's favour. Although the first set seemed easy, the following sets saw the Chinese dominate and stealing away the points faster than the 20-year old. Sindhu put up a good fight in order to win the second set, but the Chinese forced her into playing the decider.

In the third set, Sindhu showed her domination yet again proving her might under pressure. The fifth seed will now face second seed Akane Yamaguchi from Japan.

Earlier, 15th seed Sai Praneeth was ousted by Goh Soon Huat of Malaysia 16-21, 23-21, 13-21 and 7th seed HS Prannoy too bowed out after losing to Ihsan Maulana Mustofa of Indonesia 21-18, 19-21, 11-21 in the men's singles category.
