Pro Panja League: Mumbai, Rohtak pick up crucial victories
NEW DELHI: The armwrestling action of the first season of Pro Panja League continued on Sunday here in the national capital with Rohtak Rowdies and Mumbai Muscle showcasing their dominance and picking up wins.
In the second match of the night, Tom Joseph, Bandarika Kharkongor and Chandan Kumar Behera won their respective undercard bouts to give Mumbai Muscle a 3-0 lead over Ludhiana Lions. Mumbai’s Yuvraj Verma was up against Ludhiana’s Dilshad MA in the 100+kg category bout in the main card. Using his impeccable power, Yuvraj won the bout in a clean sweep and earned a 10-0 win for his team.
Up next, Mumbai’s Jatish Mahajan was up against Ludhiana’s Sachin Tomar in the 60kg category. With a combination of top roll and quick wrist movement, Jatish won the bout with a clean sweep and helped earn his team a 5-0 win. In the final bout, Mumbai’s Ardhra Suresh faced off against Ludhiana’s Shreya MK in the 55kg category. In the first round, Shreya used the top roll technique to her advantage to pin down Ardhra. Shreya then activated the challenger round, won the bout in a clean sweep and earned a 10-0 win for her team. Mumbai Muscle won the match 18-10.
In the first match of the day, Arya P and Bhavna Goswami gave Baroda Badshahs an early 2-1 lead over Rohtak Rowdies in the undercard. In the main card, Baroda’s MD Hashim set up the game for his side against Rohtak Rowdies with a win in the 100kg bout. In the first round, Hashim pinned down Jugraj using his forehand power. He won the bout by clean sweep to get a 10-0 win. Next up, Rohtak’s Ribasuk Lyngdoh stunned Neetu Verma outplayed in the 65kg bout with a 3-1 win.
In the final bout, Rohtak’s Atar Singh was up against Baroda’s Shamir Khan in the 100+kg bout. In the first round, Atar pinned down Shamir in a matter of seconds using top roll technique. Atar then activated the challenger round and won the bout with a clean sweep to get a 10-0 win. Rohtak Rowdies won the match 14-13.
Kiraak Hyderabad will take on Baroda Badshahs and Ludhiana Lions will face off against Kochi KD’s on 7th August, 2023, Monday.
