World Archery Champion Aditi Swami had to travel 3 hours to practice, father took out Rs 10 lakh loan to support her

ADITI SWAMI, WHO HAS taken the archery world by storm by winning the women's compound title at the World Acrhery Championship, has a life story that's equally impressive as her becoming the world champion at the age of 17.

The daughter of a school teacher, Aditi hails from a lower middle class family. She got into archery at the age of 12 and immediately showed immense talent. But her academy was 3 hours away, so she struggled to go there every day to practice, while balancing her passion with her education.

Her father, Gopichand, had to take out massive loans to make sure she could keep pursuing the sport. To pay for bows that cost Rs 2.5 lakh, they had to take out a loan of Rs 10 lakh; and had to pay a massive chunk of his salary to pay off the debt.

However, all that sacrifice from herself and her family has come to fruition, with her success in the world stage.

Sports fans across the country will hope for her continued success in world archery, and for her story to inspire countless other athletes and their families to keep following their dreams.
