Manipur to be home to India's first ever national level sports univesity

MANIPUR WILL BE home to India's first ever national level sports university.

The major project will be built at the cost of 643 crore, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur announced in the Parliament.

In many ways, Manipur is the perfect place to build this university because the state has produced some of the country's best athletes in various disciplines like football, boxing, weightlifting and many more.

The state also has a history of long-standing support for sporting culture from local governments, including school-level scholarships that encouraged boys and girls to take up sports seriously at an early age.

Apart from this mega project, the central government is also investing in 75 sports project across the North Eastern states that will come at the cost of 520 crore rupees.
