Handball Association of India regains government recognition

THE SPORTS MINISTRY HAS recognised the Handball Association of India (HAI) as an official national level sports association.

With this, HAI will once again receive government grants and be able to send national teams to official athletic championships like the Olympics and Asian Games through the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

The reason they lost the recognition was due to controversies regarding its administration structure. But recently, elections were held to appoint Digvijay Chautala as the HAI president and Jagan Mohan Rao as the secretary general; clearing the way for regaining the government recognition.
