WATCH: Shreya Hooda's heroic penalty saves take Haryana to Senior National Championship final

HARYANA HAVE REACHED the final of the Senior Women's National Football Championship for the very first time.

And it's all down to the heroics of their goalkeeper Shreya Hooda.

Taking on six time finalists Odisha in the second semi-final today, Haryana started well but lost their momentum towards the second half. They drew first blood, with Ritu Rani finding the net 36 minutes in. Odisha struck back around the hour mark with Jasoda Munda finding the equalizer.

The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 till regular time ran out and the match proceeded to the penalties. This is where Shreya, who is also part of the national team squad as a back-up goalkeeper, took the centre-stage.

She pulled off three back to back penalty saves - a landmark achievement for any goalkeeper at this level - to make sure that Haryana took the victory 3-0.

Shreya has played a major role in making sure that Haryana have remained undefeated throughout the tournament, conceding just 3 goals in 8 matches. Now she is one of the biggest assets her team has as they take on the favourites Tamil Nadu in the final, in an attempt to become the Champions State of India for the very first time in their history.
