PARUPALLI KASHYAP suffered defeat against compatriot Sourabh Verma in the pre-quarters of New Zealand Grand Prix Gold. It was a three game thrilling encounter as both displayed their best performances with Sourabh winning 21-18, 13-21, 21-16.
Sourabh's confidence was on high as he won the first game but Kashyap was quick to get back and pushed the match into a decider. The final game saw the 7th seed taking it in his favour to enter the quarter-finals. He will next play Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong.
4th seed HS Prannoy carries forth his great form to enter the quarters, beating 10th seed Wei Nan 21-18, 21-19. His next opponent is 11th seed Lin Yu Hsien.
Meanwhile, 16th Siril Verma succumbed to defeat against Chia Hung Lu 13-21, 14-21.
