Badminton: GPBL postponed after Indian shuttlers pull out due to BAI opposition

THE SECOND SEASON OF the Grand Prix Badminton League has been postponed indefinitely.

The organisers had to take this step due to continued opposition to the event from the Badminton Association of India.

The BAI considers the GPBL to be an unrecognised private tournament, and as a result the Indian players who were set to be a part of the competition pulled out at the last moment.

As a result, the organisers were left with no choiuce but to postpone the event, although the foreign players who were set to participate had all arrived on time.

The GPBL had garnered a lot of enthusiasm from the fans in its debut season and looked set to do so again with its widely popular auction and anticipation for the season edition. But now, unless an understanding is reached between BAI and the league, it may remain in limbo for a long time.
