Grand Prix Badminton League: Mithun Manjunath, Loh Kean Yew biggest buys

THE SECOND SEASON of Grand Prix Badminton League is kicking off with some of Indian badminton's biggest stars commanding major prices from the franchises.

Mithun Manjunath, the national champion who upset world no 7 shuttler Loh Kean Yew at Australian Open, earned a price tag of 14.5 lakhs from Chennai Superstarz at the auction today.

Closely following him was Shin Baek Cheol from Korea who was acquired by Bengaluru Tigers for 14 lakhs.

Apart from the auction, 80 other players were drafted into eight teams total from a pool of 150 to make up the squads for the league.

GPBL season 2 kicks off on 27th August and it will run till 9th September.
